FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

It’s real simple.  Just show up at the door about 25 minutes before class starts.  No need to call, unless you just want to.

Our typical pass allows you to attend class every day we are open.  This translates to around 3 to 4 times a week.  Realistically, most students only go 2 or 3 times a week.  We’ve actually had some students do quite well who only go once a week!

Over 50 years.  This is longer than most local Instructors have been alive!

It’s quite lengthy.  Master Absher first wrestled at BHS many decades ago.  He has trained in a variety of styles, including judo, jujitsu, boxing, Shotokan, Goju-Rye, Kuk So Won, Tang So Do, and Tae Kwon Do.  Master Absher was inducted into the USMA International Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2003.  Master Absher is also a retired Police Officer from the City of Fresno.

For some martial arts schools, it’s more about fun than it is about self-defense. Order of the Dragon is not a karate themed day care.  We want the kids to have fun and to enjoy themselves, but we do concentrate more on actual self-defense.

The primary way we keep our class fees low is because we rent from places like schools, park districts (We love NOR!) and churches, just for the time we are there.    You still get the same quality training as if we had a ‘brick and mortar’ location, just at a fraction of the cost.

Quality and low costs!  Keep in mind that there are just so many ways to block, punch and kick.  The main attractions to Order of the Dragon, in addition to our quality training, is our low class fees and the fact that we don’t make you sign a contract.

Absolutely not!  You couldn’t sign one even if you wanted too.  Here’s why.  We sincerely hope you love our school and keep on renewing your monthly pass.  But, if for any reason you aren’t happy, you are not locked in.

Yes.  Even though we advertise our classes as self-defense for kids, we have many parents who have joined, making it a fun family event.  Heck, one of our adults is on social security.

Yes, of course we do!  Why?  Let’s think about who the bully usually is.  It is often times someone much larger than you.  Size has very little to do with the outcome of a fight.  It’s all about skill.  In our classes, we have little kids practice with the bigger kids.  This way, they build the confidence needed in a safe environment) to defend themselves in real life against a much bigger opponent if necessary.  What is the point of having the skill if you don’t have the confidence to back it up?  Keep in mind that we don’t allow hard contact or even face contact in our classes

Sparring is how students truly learn self-defense.  Let’s be honest.  If the only thing a student does in class is to punch and kick the air, all they’ve learned how to do is to punch and kick the air.  This does not build confidence for a real life situation.  Students of all ages and all ranks participate in Sparring at Order of the Dragon.  We are able to do this due to both our Skill Sets and Strict Safety Rules.  Our students are never allowed to hit/kick hard and are not allowed to make contact without approved Order of the Dragon Safety Gear.  Even the contact areas are very limited in class.

We all hear stories about how Olympic Competitors started learning at an early age, even before 3.  That’s because their Instructor knew how to teach a young child, just as we do.

Further, some schools don’t allow lower ranks to spar simply due to how most traditional tournaments are held.  In these tournaments, it is common to have White Belts compete against higher Belts.  This is a tremendous disadvantage to the White Belts.  For some schools, it’s more about winning at tournaments than it is to learn true self-defense.

Order of the Dragon tournaments do not place pre-teen White Belts with higher ranks.  These White Belts have their own divisions.

Pretty simple.  Master Absher is also a licensed Real Estate Broker.  If you buy or sell a home via our referral network, you will get up to $1,500 in OTD credit.  This credit can be used for anything OTD related.  Keep in mind it says, “Up to $1,500”.  Actual amount will vary depending on many variables, but is roughly 35% of the referral fee I receive at close of escrow, up to the $1,500 mark.  Obviously the bigger the sale, the bigger the OTD credit.

Cash, checks, and Credit/Debit Cards, PayPal & ITEX.  You may also call the office to make a Credit/Debit Card payment over the phone.
